Plenty of high-end entertainment spaces are upgrading their products and experiences through one-of-a-kind custom wine cabinets and wine rooms. When operating a luxury gaming establishment, creating that immersive environment is essential to providing that ultimate customer experience.
More often, it’s also to showcase your impressive wine collection in style and invite customers to buy for additional revenue.
One particular establishment requested expert wine cellar designer Steve Pantalemon to build and curate their stunning commercial wine display. Complete with white oak wooden wine racks, a sophisticated temperature control system, a self-contained cooling unit, and tempered glass doors, this poker room’s wine storage space is an additional sight to enjoy while playing.
Wooden Wine Racks for Custom Wine Cabinets
The wine cabinet at this gaming lounge features wooden racks custom-made from premium White Oak. All the wood used here was coated with lacquer for a clean, polished finish.
Compared to other varieties of wood, the color white oak perfectly contrasts the cabinet’s dark walls, balancing the look. Polishing the wood with lacquer isn’t only for aesthetic purposes but also added protection from potential scratches. Sealing the wood ensures the appearance stays pristine for a long time, even when used frequently.
The idea of the wine racks was to maximize the available storage space while creating a visually engrossing display. The wine racks display bottles horizontally and can accommodate up to 700 bottles of wine.
A total of four cabinets line this storage area. Three red cabinets are used for storing wine that is best preserved at 55 degrees, while the fourth white cabinet is used for storing wine that is best preserved at 45 degrees.
The Perfect Cooling System for Space-Tight Commercial Wine Cabinets
Steve’s team has ensured the ideal temperatures are maintained throughout the year. Commercial wine cellar specialists like us understand the importance of a well-functioning, no-fail cooling system to maintain the wine’s quality and taste.
For this wine cabinet’s cooling system, the team installed a ducted, self-contained unit from CellarPro, one of the industry’s most trusted wine cooling system manufacturers. With a ducted system, hot air is expelled outside the building, ensuring heat does not stay and builds up inside the cabinets.
Since the system is also self-contained, it does not come with much machinery compared to a split system cooling unit. With its highly functional thermostat, the temperature can be easily set to the desired levels, and make sure the room stays in that condition 24/7. Additionally, it runs efficiently and quietly, ensuring customers don’t get distracted by unnecessary noise and can keep on playing in a relaxed environment.
Expert-Grade Wine Cabinet Doors
There’s something about the magic of using glass and wood in wine cellar doors. They not only allow people to comfortably view the wine collection but also deliver this unique character that helps set the tone of the space.
The wood used to build the doors is the same type of wood used in the cabinets – lacquer-polished white oak. Meanwhile, the glass is tempered panels that are moisture resistant. All the doors here were designed to be airtight, which means no cold air can escape and no hot air can enter. They work hand-in-hand with the wall insulation to maintain the ideal temperature and humidity levels inside the cabinets.
Since this is a commercial space where many people come and go, the doors were built with an additional locking mechanism to ensure that only authorized personnel can access the wines and that the expensive bottles are kept safe.
Of Course, Lighting is Also Key!
When planning your wine cellar’s lighting, it is fundamental to consider the color of the light, quality, heat radiated, and the overall ambiance you wish to achieve.
Combining low LED and channel lights, which is what is used in this wine cellar, can produce a stunning and glowy visual effect that highlights the wine collection. The low LED lights were installed around the walls, while the channel lights were installed under the racks.
All the bulbs used in this display emit low heat, which means they won’t affect the temperature levels inside the cabinets. These were an excellent wine cellar lighting choice as they can last for a long time, help you save energy compared to traditional lighting, and deliver a soft and elegant effect to showcase your collection.
Here’s a Secret You Wouldn’t Expect to See in a Wine Cabinet
If you think this gaming lounge is only about poker and wines, guess again! Besides the wine cabinets, there is a humidor that is fully custom-designed and built to store luxury cigars. Like the wine cabinets, this cigar humidor also comes with its own white oak doors lined with Spanish cedar wood for the shelves.
Compared to other wood varieties, Spanish cedar is suitable for cigar humidors because it can naturally absorb moisture, which keeps the cigars fresh.
A proprietary humidification system was installed by Steve and his team to ensure that the cigar collection was exposed to the ideal humidity level. In this humidification system, distilled water passes through a high-quality humidifier to keep the moist air clean.
Maintaining an optimum humidity level is also essential for keeping cigars flavorful and fresh, much like wines. Together with the custom wine cabinets, this gaming lounge is able to offer a customer experience like no other!
